Bookshop Online
For many university students, textbooks are a significant expense that can be difficult to manage. Once a student has finished using a textbook for their studies, they often seek to sell it back to a bookshop, typically operated by their university's student guild. However, this process can be time-consuming and inefficient, with staff having to manually record details of each book and track sales and commissions.
This is where Logical Developments comes in. Working with Curtin University and the University of WA student guilds, Logical Developments developed a point-of-sale application to manage the tracking of book sales and payments to students when their books sell. The system was so successful that it is now used by five universities Australia-wide, as well as two high schools.
The key to the success of the system was its use of Omnis Studio, a powerful development tool that allowed Logical Developments to create a seamless and efficient solution. The system not only streamlined the process of selling textbooks but also provided students with an easy way to manage their contracts and monitor their book status.
But Logical Developments didn't stop there. They went on to create an online bookshop that allowed students to register books for sale, manage their contracts, and purchase books online. This integrated directly with the point-of-sale software to provide live updates, making it easy for staff to manage online orders vs in-store sales and cope with peak loads of users at the start of university semesters.
The online store uses Omnis Studio jsClient environment to provide a modern and responsive user experience for customers. This has helped Logical Developments to stay ahead of the curve in an increasingly competitive market.
Thanks to Logical Developments' innovative solutions, students now have a much easier time selling and purchasing textbooks. By streamlining the second-hand book market, Logical Developments is making life easier for students across Australia.
