Payroll: M2M & JobKeeper Update
We have two updates that are rolling out to LD_Payroll!
For the week starting on March 30th 2020, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) went live with Machine to Machine Authentication (M2M) after retiring the use of AUSkeys on the previous Friday. Keeping pace with the ATO, we updated LD_Payroll to keep compliance with the new requirements, read more at Software Developers.ato.gov.au.
The second update coming brings the new allowance type JobKeeper.
Recently the Government has announced the Covid19 “JobKeeper” wage subsidy. Employers can register for it with the ATO. The ATO will contact applicants in due course to complete registration.
The JobKeeper wage subsidy is designed to allow employers to keep staff on during the current pandemic. In the JobKeeper&nbsupdate:
- Addition of the JobKeeper allowance type.
- As part of the pay day processes, it will top-up eligible employees to the $1500 per fortnight amount.
- If you chose to, it will trigger extra superannuation for your employee.
- New report – JobKeeper EligibleEmployees.
- This new report will list your employees, showing both who are and aren’t eligible, and why.
- The Batch Action utility allows you to link eligible employees to the new allowance in a streamline fashion.
The JobKeeper update is dependent on the pending Government legislation, meaning updates may be released in the coming days.
If you have questions about JobKeeper please speak to your accountant. You can read more about it on the Business.Gov website.
