Release Notes: Payroll v1.68

Caroline Mulroney - Nov 9, 2021

In response to a query from a client, we researched further the matter of declaring leave owing on an employee’s Payday Remittance (Pay Slip). It had become evident that employees were abusing their personal leave and were taking ‘sickies’ just because they could see they had leave available.

From the Fair Work Ombudsman, we found: “While it's best practice to show an employee's leave balances on their pay slip, it’s not a requirement. Employers do need to tell employees their leave balances if they ask for it

LD-Payroll followed the ‘best practice’. Each Payday Remittance includes Leave information. For each accumulated leave: owing b/f, accumulated, used and closing, is shown.

In this release of Payroll, global preference settings allow the Employer to suppress Leave Balance Owing for each of the accumulated leave types.

If a particular leave type is set to ‘Suppress’, then it will only appear on the Payday Remittance if it has been utilised in the pay period. For example, the employee took a day of Personal Leave. The Pay Remittance would declare: ‘Personal & Family Leave Taken 1’
